What you think you know about Gas prices...

Fact: America has 12% or less of the crude oil reserves but as a nation we use/waste more oil per person than any other country in the world!   We must stop our dependence on foreign oil! If not now, then When? Think About Year 2015

Gasoline in 1965 was approximately 31 cents, and gas should be approximately $4.27 per gallon in 2010, but in actuality it's just an average of $2.67 per gallon! What's wrong with this picture? A Must See Gas Price Comparison Projection Chart. Gas is so cheap that it hurts. Why is this? Read on... Americans have gotten used to artificially low gas prices for many, many years, and scream like bloody murder if it rises a few cents. Oil companies are subsidized by the government in many ways. We pay about $2.67 for a gallon of gasoline at the service station - The real price of gas is much higher and camouflaged by myriad direct and indirect costs associated with maintaining our oil economy.

So lets be realistic... as Americans, we love low prices, but this is the heart of the problem - cheaper isn't always better. Every time someone or the government wants to get our nation on a track of energy conservation and alternate fuels, there is a political outcry, because of many complex reasons including lobbyists, greedy corporations and what I call the "ME not We" syndrome.
